Senior Project Manager
Focus: Delivery leadership on SAP assessments, standardization programs, and S/4HANA implementations
The role
You will run AMA engagements end to end: scope, plan, budget, team, client relationship, and the hard conversations. This is a delivery role on the AMA side of the table, and it is a different job from the SAP Project Systems consultant above, who configures the module. Our advocacy stance gets tested here more than anywhere else. The project manager is the person who has to tell a client sponsor that the date is wrong, or that half the scope should wait, while there is still time to act on it.
Travel runs toward the higher end of our range for this role, closer to 25 percent, because governance and go-live tend to want you in the room.
What you will do
- Own engagement delivery from SOW through closeout: scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, risk, and change control.
- Build and maintain the integrated plan across workstreams (EAM, supply chain, master data, project systems, sales, HCM) alongside client teams and any third party integrators.
- Run the governance rhythm: steering committee, status reporting, decision logs, and issue and risk escalation that actually escalates.
- Manage the commercial side: forecast, burn against budget, change orders, invoicing inputs, and margin.
- Lead the client relationship day to day, and protect that relationship when the news is bad.
- Drive management of change: stakeholder analysis, communications, training strategy, and adoption measurement.
- Coordinate cutover and go-live: readiness criteria, command center, hypercare, and transition to support.
- Coach consultants, run the team, and work staffing and utilization with AMA leadership.
Required experience
- 10 or more years managing enterprise technology programs, including at least three full lifecycle SAP implementations or major assessments.
- Command of SAP delivery methodology (Activate or equivalent) and a realistic view of what each phase costs in time and people.
- Budget and commercial ownership. You have carried a number and defended it.
- Proven ability to run a steering committee with executives and keep a program honest in front of them.
- Willingness to tell a client something they do not want to hear, early, and stay in the room afterward.
- Experience managing distributed and mixed teams: your own consultants, client staff, and third parties.
Also valuable
- Asset intensive industry background: oil and gas, chemicals, utilities, municipalities.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent, and experience with agile or hybrid delivery.
- Organizational change management credentials such as Prosci.
- Prior consulting firm delivery leadership, including proposal and sales support.
- Enough EAM and supply chain process knowledge to challenge a design rather than just track it.
