Senior SAP Project Systems Consultant
Focus: Project System, capital project controlling, and project-driven work
The role
PS sits between the project side of the house and finance, where the argument usually happens. You will own project structures, budgeting, and settlement design for capital programs, turnarounds, and project-based service work, and you will need to satisfy project managers and controllers at the same time.
What you will do
- Configure project structures: project definition, WBS, networks and activities, milestones, and standard structures and templates.
- Design planning and budgeting, including cost and revenue planning, budget release, availability control, and the associated tolerance rules.
- Configure settlement and results analysis, including settlement to assets under construction and capitalization.
- Support project procurement and materials: account assignment, project stock, reservations, and integration to MM and PM.
- Design capital and turnaround work processes end-to-end, from funding request through closeout.
- Configure progress tracking, confirmations, and project time capture through CATS or an equivalent solution.
- Build reporting for project managers and finance, and specify interfaces to scheduling tools such as Primavera or MS Project.
Required experience
- 8 or more years of hands-on SAP PS configuration with at least two full lifecycle implementations.
- Command of project structures, planning, budgeting, availability control, and period end processing.
- Settlement, AUC, and capitalization experience with real finance stakeholders on the other side of the table.
- Integration fluency with PM, MM, FI/CO/AA, and HR time.
- Ability to explain availability control to a project manager whose requisition just got blocked.
Also valuable
- Capital project or turnaround program experience.
- Resource-related billing, or SAP Commercial Project Management.
- Primavera P6 or MS Project integration.
- Investment Management and appropriation requests.
- S/4HANA PS, or Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management.
